The Jacksonville Elementary School Writers’ Festival will be held on Tuesday, May 8, from 6:30-8:00 p.m. The Writers' Festival is a celebration of a year of growth in writing. New York Times best-selling author, Judy Sierra, is the year’s keynote speaker. Over 25 local writing enthusiasts, including authors, journalists, columnists and educators, will serve as small group moderators during break-out sessions. Students who commit to the Writer’s Festival will be assigned to one of these moderators, who will meet in various locations throughout the school during the festival. These break-out sessions will provide a forum for students to share their work with each other and with a writing professional. Each student is submitting work for publication in the 2011-2012 Student Anthology, a copy of which will be presented to Mr. Snyder during the event. Altogether, over 400 compositions will be on display in the gym. Thank you so much for your support of this special event!
